Our adventures have continued with our sweet little man! We have been trying out more baby food and it is so funny to watch! So far he loves all the vegetables and hates the fruits! When you give him fruits he makes a face and shakes like I have just fed him motor oil! But when you give him vegetables he loves them! Green beans and sweet peas are his favorite right now. He likes the carrots too, I told him they needed to make a cornbread flavored baby food to go along with all these vegetables. I have tried everything to get him to eat the fruit, but he just doesn’t like them. We have tried mixing them with rice cereal, oatmeal, and the vegetables. We have put a pinch of sugar and karo syrup in there to make them not as sour but it doesn’t help. I guess he is going to be a meat and taters kinda kid! J

I let him try a sippy cup, knowing it was too early, only because of Pops secretaries at Bonds Appliance. I let him stay there with them for about 20 minutes while I ran to the school and when I came back they had him drinking water out of a styrophome cup! He actually was doing really good and was hardly spilling anything. He really liked it, every time they would take it away he would cry! So they kept saying that he needed a sippy cup. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try and I knew he wouldn’t like it or know how to use it yet but I bought him one anyway. He had no idea what to do with it. He pretty much just chews on the spout. It was worth a try and really funny to watch him with it. I think we will have to save those cups we bought for later though.

We had a pool day with Amber and Lainey, and Amber’s mom Teresa and her little brother Brandon. Amber and I have been friends since I was in the first grade and she was in the second. Our mothers taught school together at Grassy and we met there on the playground. We have always been great friends. We went to different schools but we have remained close all these years and now we have our sweet babies together! Lainey is 10 months old now and Mack is about 4 ½.  I know they will be great friends too, just like their Mommies, Their Nana and Granna, and their Uncles! J

We met Miss Andie Kathryn Kelley this week. She is so precious. Warren and Kim had her on July 12, 2011. We went to their house to visit and when we put them on the beanbag together she just laid there like a sweet little angel and Mack just wanted to eat her! It was too funny! He had her sleeve in his mouth because her arms and legs were all balled up close to her little body. She didn’t seem to mind that he tasted her. Haha

Mommy had to go to Kimberly Redmon’s wedding on Saturday July 16 and Mack spent the night with Granna. She said that he was absolutely perfect! He went to church with Granna and Pop on Sunday and stayed in the nursery for the first time. We have been to church with him a couple times but never taken him to the nursery. I was so nervous that he was going to scream the whole time. Granna said that they never called her into the nursery to come get her and that he slept the whole time. He was the only baby in there with 2 ladies so he had all the attention, which is just the way he likes it! J

He is about 17 pounds now and he is growing like a weed! He is still drooling all the time and chewing on everything, but still no teeth! I hope we see one soon. I can tell that he is getting older and it breaks my heart and makes me happy at the same time. He is getting much better at playing by himself for about 20 minutes at a time. He loves his exercauser and he is still doing really good in his bed at night. I know that it is tough some times when we have bad days but I couldn’t ask for a better baby!

The beginning of our fireworks adventure!

We had a very busy but great 4th of July weekend. Mack did really good most of the weekend. Our celebration started on Friday July 1st. We went to the downtown celebration in Guntersville with Granna. It was very hot and sticky so we didn’t stay long but we had fun.
On Saturday July 2nd. Granna’s side of the family all got together to eat at her house. We have a very big family so there were a lot of people there. Mack got to meet a lot of them for the first time. He met his baby cousin Laine for the first time and several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins too. He swam in his baby pool with his cousin Jonathon and had a great time. We were not only celebrating the 4th but we were also celebrating our Mamaw B’s birthday. This was Granna’s mom and her birthday is the 4th. She was the most amazing woman I know and I love her and miss her everyday. If Mack would have been a girl he would have been named after her, Ila Bernice! She has been gone for a long time but I know that she is watching over my sweet family.
Sunday we went to the lake to visit with everybody down there. We didn’t take Mack on a boat ride since he hates his life jacket but he did get to visit and lay in his spot in front of the fan and play. He took a little nap while we were there and then we headed home. It was too hot for us to stay out there very long.
On Monday, the actual 4th of July, we went to Nana’s house and hung out by her pool. Mack swam in her pool and we got to meet Carter Blevins for the first time. Carter is our friend Brandi’s little boy. He is a month old and is so precious. Mack had one pretty big melt down, of course when Carter was there, but other than that he was good. I think that his gums were hurting, but were still waiting on a tooth to pop out! Monday night was the fireworks show in Guntersville. We were going to go to hole #2 and watch them from up there but those plans fell through. SO we thought we were might could see them from the hill behind our house. We drove up on the hill with our neighbors and discovered that we could not see them from there. This is all happening around 9:00 which is already 30 minutes past Mack’s bedtime! We had been trying to keep him up and it was not easy. He had to have bug spray on since we were outside so he hadn’t had a bath yet either! After we figured out that we could not see the fireworks from the hill and it was too late to go to hole #2 Shon and I drove around trying to find another spot in Gunters Landing that we could see them. We saw a bunch of people watching them on another tee box so we stopped there. We got up onto the tee box and realized that all of the people there were watching the fireworks through a small crack in some trees! We stood there for a minute but decided it wasn’t worth it so we went home. When we got home Mack was super sleepy but he still had to have a bath! I gave him a bath with him screaming the whole time! I got his pajamas on him and got upstairs and was giving him his bottle when Shon came in and said he could see the fireworks from the front room window! So we went through all that when we could have just watched them from the window!
We had a great weekend overall! We are very thankful for our country and for all the men and women who have served or are still serving so that we can have our freedom!

"I like this seat!"

Mack is 18 weeks now and still growing like a weed. We went for our 4 month check up this week and he weighed 16 pounds 4 ounces and was 26 inches long. Dr. Chupp continues to tell me that he is just perfect, and that him being fussy sometimes are just bumps in the road. I have to keep telling myself that when he is not a happy camper. Dr. Chupp upped his dose of Zantac from 0.5 mL to 1.0 mL twice a day and it seems to make a huge difference. He has been much happier since that change! Daddy is still loving his new job and is doing an excellent job at it too! We had our first sit down family dinner this week. Since Mack has started eating baby food I thought we should all sit together at the table. Mack had bananas and rice cereal, which he didnt want, and we had Macaroni Grill Chicken Marsala that was terrible! Mack was still not used to his food so he didnt eat and Shon and I tried to eat ours but I guess we just dont like chicken marsala. :)
He still loves the water so I went to Wal-Mart and bought him a new pool and a Finding Nemo ball. He loved both of them! He kept trying to eat the Nemo ball, it was so funny. He would get it up to his mouth and just lick it! Granna bought him a shark towel and it is so adorable, it has fins and everything! We have discovered that he really likes watching cartoons in his high chair. One morning after trying to get him to eat some baby food with little success, I was cleaning up so I rolled his high chair over to the TV and he was mesmerized! Our TV is mounted on the wall in the corner and all of his stuff that he has been sitting in to watch it is in the floor so he cant see it as well. But with the high chair he can sit up and see it great plus the high chair helps him to sit up straight since it has shoulder straps on it. He sat and watched Yo Gabba Gabba for about 30 minutes that morning! I was amazed! We have had a few car rides lately with no crying which has been nice for a change and he is still doing pretty good sleeping in his bed at night. Im still waiting on some teeth to come in, he is drooling and chewing on everything and has ran a low grade fever a few times so we are expecting a tooth any day now!!!
